He spent four years in the field, marketing insurance products for the New York Casualty Insurance Company as their Western New York territory manager from 1984-1987.
From 1987 until 1998 Mr. Olver was a partner in a property and casualty insurance agency in Ithaca, NY, where his responsibilities included that of the Marketing Manager and over all agency revenue growth.
In August 1998 he left employment and ventured into a new endeavor to build his own business. As of this writing, the agency employs 5 individuals and represents 8 insurers (four of which are national stock carriers) and has in excess of 800 clients.
Mr. Olver is a CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) and a CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor). He places a great deal of emphasis on staff education and training to provide the best possible products and services to clients.
Mr. Olver is actively involved in the community, having served as president of the YMCA of Ithaca & Tompkins County Board of Directors, the Cayuga Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors, Board Member of the Tompkins County Foundation, and is a participating member of the Ithaca Rotary Club. In Rotary, he has been Chairman of the Youth Exchange Committee, sending and receiving numerous high school age students throughout the world on a year long exchange. He has co-chaired the Cayuga Medical Center Foundation's Annual Campaign for the 1998 and 1999 campaign years. Also, Mr. Olver has been extensively involved in area youth sports, coaching his daughter's softball teams.
